Welcome Message
Healing Streams
partners with grass-roots organizations in the Great Lakes region of
Africa to provide counselling and leadership skills to the leaders of
its communities.
Why? In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) alone, over 5.4 million people have died from war related causes and hundreds of thousands of women have been raped as an act of war. How does a country rebuild when it's leaders have been killed or a community demoralized by the brutal strategic rape of its women? Healing Streams is commited to standing with women and men in eastern DRC and other countries in the Great Lakes region and declaring, "You are not alone!"
Healing Streams invests in leaders. The leaders we resource may be a minister or chaplain or the often unrecognized volunteer. Dorcas, the "mother" of 30 orphan children in Butembo, DRC is once such leader. You can read more about her amazing story here.
In the context of war torn DRC, Healing Streams has equipped hundreds leaders with counselling and leadership skills to support those traumatized by war and rape. DRC is not alone in this need. The next generation in Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda have all experienced the traumatic effects of mass violence. Healing Streams works on an invitation basis to repond to the needs identified by local organizations. We welcome your partnership with us! .
