Healing Streams provides seminars, training, and resources to Christian organizations working in the Great Lakes Region of Africa. This region includes the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, and Tanzania. Within the recent past, and with the exception of Tanzania, these countries have been inflicted with conflict ranging from civil unrest to genocide to what has been called Africa's world war in DRC. Healing Streams seeks to provide resources for Hope & Healing through our involvement with local and mission organizations. Healing Streams staff have expertise in the area of trauma recovery, leadership development, and biblical training.
In the DRC, Healing Streams partners with Congolese organizations to provide post trauma training and leadership development seminars. Currently focusing on a series of training modules for Pastoral Counsellors and other caregivers, Healing Streams' Dawn and Ross Penner conduct Hope & Healing Seminars on the Recovery from War Trauma and Rape. These train the trainer sessions are accompanied by a newly developed training manual to equip Christian leaders in the training of others.
