International Work
Healing Streams provides seminars, training, and resources to organizations working in the Great Lakes Region of Africa.  This region includes the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, and Tanzania.   Healing Streams seeks to provide resources for Hope & Healing through our involvement with local and international organizations.  Healing Streams staff have expertise in the area of trauma recovery, leadership development, and integrating Christian beliefs with counselling.

Why? Within the recent past, and with the exception of Tanzania, these countries have been inflicted with conflict ranging from civil unrest to genocide to what has been called Africa's world war in DRC. In the DRC alone, over 5.4 million people have died from war related causes and hundreds of thousands of women have been raped as an act of war.  How does a country rebuild when it's leaders have been killed or a community demoralized by the brutal strategic rape of its women?  Healing Streams is committed to standing with women and men in eastern DRC and other countries in the Great Lakes region and declaring, "You are not alone!"

In the DRC, Healing Streams partners with Congolese and international organizations to provide post trauma training and leadership development seminars.  Currently focusing on a series of training modules for pastors, health workers and community workers, Healing Streams' facilitators conduct Hope & Healing Seminars on the Recovery from War Trauma and Rape. These train the trainer sessions are accompanied by a holistic, contextualized training manual to equip and support community trainers in the training of others. Local trainers are members of a larger organization that provides support and supervision to their work.

Healing Streams also considers requests from other international locations. Contact Us to see if we can resource your group.
