Dr.
John Toews is a psychiatrist with a strong interest in the relationship
between Christian spirituality and mental health. His clinical work and
teaching are focused on promoting the healing of the whole person. He
believes that a healthy Christian spirituality is a great underpinning
for life and a powerful force for health and is gifted in applying
spiritual insights to our every day experiences and struggles in life. |
Presently, Dr. John Toews is a professor at the
University of Calgary where his academic work is related spirituality
and education and maintains a private practice. He is the co-founder of
series of conferences on spirituality and health and frequently speaks
at conferences, workshops and retreats, both nationally and
internationally. In 1995, he authored a book entitled, No Longer Alone:
Mental Health and the Church, to help the church study the effect of
mental health issues within congregations.
Dr. John Toews is a husband, father and grandfather.
These relationships nurture him and provide a rich source of insights
about our lives as children of the Father.
