Executive Director: Dawn Penner, M.A., M.Ed. E-mail
dawn_penner_web Dawn Penner, founder and Executive Director of Healing Streams, is committed to the restoration of relationships to self, others, and God.  In 1985, when Dawn began pursuing a career in counselling, her interest in the intersection of the Christian faith and counselling also grew. 
Subsequently, Dawn pursued a Master of Arts in Old Testament from the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary in Fresno, California.  Dawn has a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba and a Masters in Education (Counselling Psychology) from the University of Saskatchewan.  Her Master’s Thesis was on the topic of Eating Disorder and Thinking Problems and she is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Toronto in Counselling Psychology. Dawn's current level of expertise has developed in a variety of contexts including: family practice, organizational management and mental, spiritual & emotional health.

Dawn has had private counselling practices in three provinces integrating Christian spirituality and counselling. Additionally, she has spoken to groups across the Canadian prairies and central Canada at conferences, pastor’s retreats, and women’s groups.  She has led numerous groups in team building, skill development, and conflict intervention.  She has taught counselling courses at several Christian Colleges.  Dawn is well versed in the disciplines of Christian spirituality and counselling and enjoys opportunities to interact with people on these topics.

 

Dawn has served on international boards, church boards and teaches, preaches and leads a small group.  She has developed a care-giving program for her local church and been instrumental in starting women’s ministries at churches in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Dawn is married to her best friend, Ross Penner. They have two adult children; Jotham and Matthew. Activities that restore her include: laughter, reading and working in her Healing garden, quilting, running (slowly) and canoeing/camping with her family.
